To make its contribution towards realizing the vision of Master Plan Delhi-2021, Standard Welfare Housing announces its Smart City Awas Yojna project. The project is part of the Affordable Housing Society. Standard Welfare Society’s Smart City project’s highest ideal is to uphold the vision of Smart City Awas Yojna. Hence, good and well-planned affordable housing for all is the goal. Registration is now open for all: both private citizens and government employees are eligible to apply. A total of 360 housing units will be allotted through draws. As part of its egalitarian and housing for all mission, the scheme encourages women to apply. 33% housing units are specifically reserved for women.
Right from the moment they were announced, Delhi Master Plan-2021 and land pooling policy became buzzwords in the capital. And, the major aim of Delhi Government and DDA under this scheme is to pay maximum attention to affordable housing. This is part of the MPD-2021’s goal of “Housing for All by 2022”. On the government’s side the mission is to provide every necessary infrastructure required to develop a holistic smart city. This includes building wide roads, healthcare centres, dispensaries, sanitation infrastructure, sewage treatment facilities, etc. Talking of housing needs, in concrete terms, gives you very big figures. At present, Delhi has a population of 1.7 crore of which DDA can accommodate only 1.5 crores. No doubt many housing schemes are underway but at the same time population is also predicted to grow to 2.5 crores by the end of 2021. It is to meet the present deficit and the housing needs of the additional 80 lakh people that MPD-2021 was drafted.
